Name: Avery DeLeu
Age: 164
Date of Birth: June Sixth
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Face Claim: Mikazuki Munechika from Touken Ranbu
Height: 5 Feet, 7 Inches
Distinguishing Features: He has a large tattoo covering most of his back. He keeps it covered, though. Its of a group of colorful hummingbirds around flowers.
Character Class: Angel
Residency: Agricultural District
Likes: A simple person to please, Avery likes nothing more than a serene nap under a tree or to sit somewhere calm with his lunch. Its one of the main reasons he chose to live where he does. One of his favorite pastimes is gardening, and he tends a small one on the outskirts of town in his cozy little house. He also enjoys kite flying, finding it relaxing, and is able to craft some rather impressive pieces which he occasionally sells to those interested.
Dislikes: For the most part, other people would fit in the area. Its not that he hates all life or something silly like that, he's just become weary of talking and likes to keep to himself. People are usually just a constant disappointment anyway, so its easier to avoid them when he can. He'll still give a polite smile to anyone who talks to him, but that's about it. On a lesser note, though, jarring noises startle him greatly so he hates them. He also dislikes food you're expected to eat with your hands, especially if they get sticky or stain.
Personality: Most who have met Avery could compare his general personality to that of the average stream. Calm and smooth on the surface, perhaps even a little bubbly in places, but a stream can be much deeper than it first appears and isn't always hiding good things. He is the distant sort, who comes off nice enough in most situations. His dislike of socializing doesn't mean he is a jerk. When greeting someone new, he is polite and cordial, if a little stiff and reserved. Its only after extended conversations that his true nature starts to shine through, and the intensity of it can brighten people's days or burn them. His easygoing front will fall, revealing that he can be kind of an asshole. Its not that he really means to be, but time has taught him that beating around the bush is pointless and you can never spare everyone's feelings. While not short tempered, he is blunt and to the point. If he doesn't like or doesn't care, he will flat out tell you so. Sadly, this is often. He has grown apathetic with life over the years and often just wants to be left to his own thoughts.
Understandably, Avery will act differently around people he likes and dislikes, if only a little. If he enjoys your company, he will let himself loosen up, if only slightly, and might be coaxed into throwing the occasional joke into a conversation. If he dislikes you, that is another thing altogether. He is not the angry type, so he will not scowl and curse names or even show much interest at all. His is a quiet fury, hidden behind tight lipped smiles and cold words. He tends to hang onto things, and can hold a grudge for a very long time.
Tight lipped, Avery is the tight to hold secrets close and dear. Even if he can be sort of an ass at times, at least he's trustworthy. Even though he would take anything you told him to the grave, it also means he keeps any details about his self hidden. He is almost always that person who you just know exists, but few really know where he came from or how he got to where he is now. Knowing these things is a sign of true friendship and companionship from him, and to break that bond would devastate him.
History: While not high and mighty or royal, there was always something about Avery's family that garnered more a sense of 'nobility' than it probably should. It was something in the way his parents held themselves, the way they moved and acted in public, the choice of words. Yes, while they were mere angels, something about them demanded respect from others. It is no surprise that their only child, a soft faced boy, would be expected to act the same way.
No one really knew where the DeLue's got their charm and grace from. Wherever it was from, Avery knew it by heart even when he was young. When home, the way to act was drilled into his head nearly every second. Do this, not that, and this way and not that way. Structure, control is all he ever knew. There was rarely a moment to relax, and when he could it was by doing proper activities. No, he could not go play with the other children or go outside. That was childish, something that lesser people did. It should be no surprised that over the years he has ended up like he has.
When he was a young man, an adult by full right but not yet done growing, Avery met him. It was by accident. At the market, when he was supposed to be buying groceries. He was tall, dark, handsome, a smell of danger and rebellion on him. He was everything that Avery had every wanted, and his name was Malchiel. Malchiel was a demon, one blessed with beauty and a mean streak. Avery just couldn't help himself. The relationship was kept quiet, hush hush. Malchiel convinced him to do many foolish, reckless things. Avery loved ever one of them.
This is how Avery ended up on his stomach, shirtless, having the ink seared into his skin in delightful designs as he held his lover's hand. It was this that his parents finally saw. It was this that got him disowned, kicked out of the only house he had ever known. It was Avery, who in his upset state, blamed his dear Malchiel and told him he never wanted to see him again. Later, only later when he was alone, did he realize what a mistake that was.
Avery never saw him again, though his heart pined. He managed to find a place far away from his mistakes, in the countryside, where he could take up rooms. Drawing into himself, Avery liked his days to be alone. It was easier, so much easier than dealing with the hustle and bustle of people. Inside, deep inside in a place he would never admit existed, he was also afraid of being hurt again. He had made his own bed and he had to lay in it before, but avoiding letting others close would make sure that would never happen again, right? Right.
He has stayed in this village, by himself, for longer than he can now remember. Its okay, he likes it that way. Though, things do get a bit lonesome sometimes...
Notes: Avery has two, large, pretty white wings like you would expect from an angel. He keeps them hidden to the best of his ability, along with his halo. Occasionally, when cold, he fluffs up almost like a chicken, which is amusing to see. The very base of his wings are also stained slightly from the ink of his tattoos seeping into them, which frustrates him.
