All angels and demons are not created equal. To believe such would be a folly. Much in the way that various creatures exist for certain purposes, certain angels and demons exist for certain purposes. This is an unquestionable law of the world. Below, you'll find the distinct classifications of angels and demons, their “roles”, and what can be expected from them in terms of capabilities.
It should go to note that there are no hybrids. Children born of an angel and demon will be either angel or demon. They won't be both. That's not to say that they can't try to masquerade as one, but they'll be perfectly normal outside of having a unique family.
Furthermore, after a certain point in their late teens or younger twenties, all angels and demons stop aging. While they can alter their bodies to appear the age they desire, they, ultimately, will not die of age, and their shape is up to them.
~Angels~
Angels are typically considered beings of “light”. However, this does not inherently translate to them being good, or virtuous, entities. Not all light is pure. Not all light is just. Angelic beings, or, rather, angels and their progenitors, are divided into four classes. With the exception of gods, all angelically-based beings have halos and typical angel wings. How these are revealed, however, ultimately come down to the individual.
-Gods-
While not an angel, a god is a being that is intrinsically linked to angels as a leader figure. They are the most powerful beings of “light”, capable of creating and destroying entire worlds at will. They can warp their physical make-up at will, and there is no true limit to what they can appear as. In addition, they have regenerative capabilities that are simply absurd in speed. They can only be reliably injured by a god or devil on a similar level of strength. They're called gods for a reason. The god in the current world is a lethargic asshole.
-Seraphim-
Seraphim are, for all intents and purposes, the most powerful of angels. They are the generals, the ones that will guide the masses when their god is, for whatever reason, unavailable. While no match for a god in terms of power, they are extremely capable, nearly impossible to injure by anything below the Seraph rank of angels, or the Devas of the demons. Similar to gods, they have excessive abilities in regards to shapeshifting, capable of warping their bodies into any number of creatures clearly not related to angels. In the present world, they serve as government officials for the angel side. Only four remain after the war. Given the peace, it was deemed unnecessary for more to be created.
-Archangels-
Archangels are the generic foot soldiers of the angel kind. While they may be considered foot soldiers, their power was also vast. Naturally, they didn't match a Seraph on a one-to-one basis, but they were powerful. Their regenerative abilities, while not comparable to a Seraph's, were extraordinarily fast, preventing them from succumbing to anything other than instantly fatal attacks, or a flurry of injuries inflicted from multiple sources. Their ability to shapeshift was primarily weaponized, altering the body's state to create makeshift armor and weapons, among other things. This class went extinct during the war. Given the peaceful state and intents of the world, it was deemed that they were unnecessary in this world, and have been subsequently banned from creation.
-Angels-
Angels, sharing the name of their race, are the typical citizens. They're the lowest class of angel, and easily the weakest. Not designed for war, they are not capable of the absurd feats the Archangels are, and certainly not the nigh-miracles of Seraphim. Of course, they're not helpless. Though they aren't made for war, their physical abilities are beyond what a typical human would be able to perform. Furthermore, their regenerative abilities are easily on the level of “superhuman”. Most minor injuries heal in minutes. Major injuries can recover naturally, but require more time. And even fatal injuries can be taken care of, if a healer can get to the victim in time. In terms of shapeshifting, Angels can hide or put away their halos and wings, alter their general appearance, and things to that level. They cannot, however, significantly alter their body into the forms of other creatures, nor can they weaponize themselves. On the angel's side, Angels are the most prevalent of the classes, as they are the standard citizens.
~Demons~
Just as angels are one side of the coin of light and darkness, demons are the other. Like angels, the beings of darkness, the demons, are not inherently evil. The darkness can be protective, and even comforting. Like angels, demons are divided into four classes, one being their makers. Demons host a few qualities that can be revealed or hidden, just like angels. These traits are their horns, their leathery wings, and their tails.
-Devils-
The demonic equivalent of a god, devils are the leaders and makers of demon-kind. They are unmatched by any single being that is not another devil or god. Ridiculously powerful, possessing absurd regenerative abilities, and capable of completely changing their shape at will, an average devil will be an equal match for an average god. The present devil in this world is a playful, but well-meaning trickster. Also absolutely adorable.
-Devas-
The top-ranked demons serving under the devil. Devas are just as impressive as Seraphim. Functional in all fields, from war to the arts, they are the most capable subordinates to a devil. In terms of overall power, an average Deva is equivalent to an average Seraphim. Neither is inherently more powerful than the other. Just as Seraphim currently serve as government officials on the angel side of things, Devas take care of all the matters pertaining to demons specifically. Naturally, they also work with Seraphim for all bi-partisan matters.
-Archdemons-
Mirroring the Archangels, Archdemons are the foot soldiers of the demons. As one could expect, they were roughly on the same level of combat effectiveness as Archangels, with their capabilities roughly on the same level. Despite that power, they, too, were rendered extinct during the war. Similar to the Archangels, their presence was deemed unnecessary due to the peaceful world that would follow, and further creation of them was banned. Naturally, this ban will not see a repeal anytime soon.
-Demons-
The lowest of the low! Except not really. Demons are the basic entry for demon-kind. They, like Angels, are the simple citizens. While not powerless, they were not designed with warfare in mind. Like angels, they can hide their basic features simply enough through shapeshifting, removing their horns, wings, and tail. They're the most numerous of the demons, and they'll be the typical demon you see waltzing about the streets.
