Name: Lost to Time and Forgotten; Simply referred to as God
Age: Unknown
Date of Birth: Unknown
Gender: Male (Probably?)
Sexual Orientation: Unknown
Face Claim: Izaya Orihara - Durarara!!
Appearance:
Height: 5'6"
Distinguishing Features: Though he can shapeshift his size at will, God chooses to remain at a smaller than average height to seem less scary to the children. Though he will deny it, it is also so he doesn't seem like a pedophile given the Devil's chosen height. God generally wears a white suit with a black tie, along with a matching white hat of choice. Occasionally, he will wear a large white overcoat over this should he deem it appropriate. His trademark white suit is not the only thing he wears though. Given his unnatural obsession with dinosaurs, God can occasionally be found walking (or napping) around the castle in a dinosaur onesie. Nobody knows why. Though nobody has ever really seen him take them out, God also has a pair of ethereal wings that he can bring out at any time. Not that he needs them to fly, of course. They only serve as an intimidation tactic given their very large wingspan; however there has been no need for such things following the war.
Character Class: God
Residency: Nowhere in particular, but his room is in Blanoir Castle.
Likes: God loves the new peaceful world above all else. He wishes to protect it after having gone through the timeless war not so long ago, watching his citizens and subordinates die. He also cares greatly for the Devil who was the other half of the proponent of this peace even if it's not very apparent. Her frequent teasing and pranks seems to be the cause of most of his distress, which says a lot about his peaceful lifestyle given how little of an issue it is. And even then, he shrugs off most of these things given his carefree personality. Even if he seems annoyed at times, he hopes that these carefree days will continue indefinitely.
Despite his status as one of the rulers of this world, God is often times found napping or lazing about. One could even call it a pastime. His expressions and speech comes off as deadpan or monotone. He does not discriminate locations where he can sleep by any means. It is not uncommon for him to simply feel like taking a nap while walking through the forest and prop himself up against a tree to sleep for an hour or two. Though he doesn't seem like the type, he will dote on the Devil when she is looking to be spoiled and will often give into her when she wants something. Typically though, this doting takes the form of head pats, carrying her around, or simple words of affection given in his typical deadpan tone.
One of God's more odd and by far less-known traits is his strange obsession with dinosaurs. Nobody is really sure where it came from, when it started, or where he ever saw a dinosaur, but the one thing that is certain is that he likes them. A lot. He has a large collection of dinosaur figures in his room and seems to be able to name just about any dinosaur one can think of. His dinosaur onesie is the only other thing that God seems to wear in excess aside from one of his white suits, and even then knowledge about it is fairly rare among denizens. He also seems to consider sharks as dinosaurs. Though this may just be an excuse for when the Devil wears her signature shark onesie.
And yes, even if he is seemingly rather lazy, God loves to go on strolls. These are usually alone or in the company of the Devil or one of his close subordinates. These usually take him around the populated areas of towns, but sometimes into the nearby forest. This is how he occasionally ends up napping in such odd places. His seemingly half-awake demeanor persists throughout these strolls, naturally. Though it may not seem it, he is actually listening intently to the thoughts and concerns of his citizens. After living countless years as someone above and beyond his people, he now prefers to socialize to a reasonable degree and retain a personal connection with his people.
Another thing that God will probably not admit is that he likes kids. They are the future of their world and will be a large role in shaping the next era to come. As such, he occasionally stops by to 'play' with them even if it seems he's just passing by on a stroll. And by play, this can range from having nonsensical conversations with the children about things they likely can't comprehend, playing kids games such as hide-and-seek, or simply falling asleep resulting in the kids messing with him in the meantime. Though it may seem pointless, he wishes for them to grow up in a happy environment much like the rest of the community. However, children have their innocence. God finds this innocence very precious, again, not that he would admit it for various reasons. He takes great care of his world, but the children are his pride.
Dislikes: The only thing that seems to honestly bother God is anyone who would choose to disturb the peace that took so long to establish. Though he doubts anyone in their right mind from their world would try to interfere with this peace, he is more than fully prepared to fight to keep it preserved no matter the cost. That said, he chooses to keep a positive demeanor, seemingly free of any worries. There doesn't exist anyone who is powerful enough to pose a threat to their peace in this world. However, this does not keep the thought from lingering in the back of his mind.
Personality: At first glance, God seems to be a rather unsociable, quiet and stern individual who likely doesn't get along with anyone. However, while he's not exactly the most outgoing and loud individual, it is certainly far from the truth. For the most part, God keeps a calm and composed demeanor, never really raising his voice over truly concerning or serious matters. His facial expressions seem to give the impression that he isn't very friendly. To put it plainly, he never really smiles, he looks as if he's completely uninterested in everything or simply mad at the world, and his eyes seem almost lifeless at times. Though honest to Him, he is likely either tired and dozing off, or simply groggy from waking up from a nap. Probably the only thing that gets him to raise his voice is one of the Devil's schemes; and those rarely ever elicit a strong reaction as is. That said, talking to his 'normal' sleep-deprived looking self will seem no different than anyone else. He doesn't even sound that tired when speaking; just really calm. Living in such a peaceful world and enjoying it to such an extent likely made him so calm after the war.
As one of the leaders of his world, God finds it important to keep such a peaceful and unwavering expression. If he is calm, his citizens and subordinates will follow his example. Though, he hopes that the day where he needs to keep his people calm never comes. He wishes for this peace to last more than anything. Though the origin of his calming presence was birthed from the days of the endless war, he has much more practical uses for it. God used to be someone who reigned over his citizens from above through charisma, respect, and dominance. Though he was loved by his people in those days, his old persona could be seen as very scary in comparison to how he is now. At the end of the war, not only did God change his formed into something less intimidating, but he chose to adopt a more peaceful approach to ruling over his people. For the most part, it has worked wonders, as he gets along with the denizens of their world quite well. The children who meet him for the first time are usually quite wary of him still, but always warm up to him after a little bit.
Needless to say, his approval rating is quite high among both the angels and demons. His standing with the denizens is something he tries to maintain above all else. But like all good things, God isn't allowed to have it without a little resistance. This resistance does not take the form of any group of citizens. On the contrary, it is the work of the Devil who manages to, mostly purposely, add a bit of skepticism regarding God's 'nature.' One example would be the fact that Devil chose to have a form on the much more 'childish' side. The fact that the two of them became 'a thing' right around that time by coincidence likely raised a red flag or two. Something like that is easy to clear up on its own; but it becomes a large issue when the other party(read as: Devil) likes to blow it up into something like a scandal. As such, these are the issues God has to deal with on a daily basis.
This is where the beauty in his lifestyle comes from, however. The worst that he has to deal with is the occasional schemes from his partner. Truthfully, he probably enjoys those little 'incidents' in his daily life. It prevents things from getting stale while leaving something he can look back fondly on weeks, months, or even years down the road. However it is probably this lifestyle that has turned him into such a lazy individual. Before, the war was all that crossed his mind. But now, while most of it is filled with keeping his people happy as well as fond memories, just a bit too much of it is allocated to sleeping and lazing about. One could say it is a huge improvement, but at the same time it is probably the biggest complaint one could have about him. (Allegations regarding children need not apply.) As it stands, there doesn't seem to be any efforts on his part for him to change that at all.
Another unexpected fact about God is that he is quite literally, a big softie. It certainly was not the case when he ruled over a nation at war when an iron fist was necessary, but over time that iron fist clearly melted into some sort of soft, sweet, and creamy texture. It goes without saying that he usually gives into Devil after enough whining is done, but the same can be done by any stubborn kid. They want a piggyback ride? Sure, it'll take quite a bit of nagging, but he'd give in eventually.
All of these things make it easy for people to forget that this man was once a charismatic, cunning, and tactical leader who waged war endlessly without a hint of weakness. Though he has grown to show a softer side, those strong leader tactics certainly haven't dulled. He wasn't called 'God' for nothing, after all. Though the instances where he needs to show it have grown few and far between, the man knows how to demand attention, take total control of a conversation and manipulate it, strategize in any sort of situation, and increase morale. Though they are a peculiar set of skills in a peaceful everyday setting, they have their uses for the lazy old God of a peaceful world. For one, he could reason with someone to let him sleep an extra hour or four. Though the world has no need for his expertise, he keeps his mind sharp for the day things might go south.
History: Once upon a time, in a world nearly forgotten to time, peace was an impossible thought. God was much more loud, dominating, and relentless in those days. He even had a name back then that was revered with respect and honor by his people. His people undoubtedly loved him and followed him unconditionally, even if it was into an endless war. The man led his people with total trust and unmatched charisma; his literal levels of power were just the tip of the iceberg. The man was always ready to assure his people of victory, and they wholeheartedly believed him even if they knew it may cost them their life. In the end though, nobody could have predicted it would result in the near extinction of his people, save for four of his most trusted subordinates. This disaster was his greatest regret. Regret that he could not prevent so much bloodshed on both sides and find peace earlier.
When the peace talks were finished, God re-created the world once more and created the new first generation of inhabitants. He firmly hoped that the first generation would remain untainted from the past both sides had left behind. The first generation of both angels and demons would determine the direction in which this new peace would go. The new generations would take on the thoughts of the previous, and so forth. As such, God focused his efforts on relations between the two races to see how things might go. He chose to send his four closest subordinates that survived the war to work together with the Devil's subordinates. It was an odd experience for him, watching over the people he once slaughtered as they got along the angels. But in the end, his efforts were quite successful, and gave him rather surprising results. The two races easily formed one peaceful world with no real boundary aside from the formal terms of 'angel' and 'demon.' He watched Devil's and his children work together, become friends, and in some cases even have families together. He was happy to see the peaceful world that he and Devil imagined come to fruition.
As God settled into the new world, he oversaw any issues that needed it, but for the most part, things were set. It was something that God had not thought of. With no war, very little to dispute, and a happy world where the inhabitants are all happy, what did he really need to do? Seeing the only logical path, God did his best to socialize among the denizens of the world as if he were just another citizen. From here, he could not only monitor the progress of their new world, but help him integrate into such a huge change. Countless years of war had a huge effect on his mind. It would take a large degree of effort to truly change him for good. Slowly but surely, he would be making that effort along with Devil, the other survivors, and the new denizens of the world who were completely innocent to the tragedies of the past.
Though he still had a few rough edges that stuck out from the past, he integrated into the new society along with that bothersome Devil who seemed to only give him a few extra problems to deal with along the way. Though, he was probably grateful for that in retrospect, given he had no idea what to do with himself for a while having lost his main goal for what seemed like an eternity. He probably still struggles a bit even to this day, but he has certainly made great progress. He now looks to the near and distant future, hoping for equally peaceful days for him, that pain-in-the-ass, and the denizens of their world.
